Cubix includes a full double-entry financial journals module.

Use of the journal module is optional per model, and if required it is is enabled as part of the initial model design and setup.

With the journal module enabled, the model will have three input views available. Input, Adjust and Net

  • The Input view is where all original data is stored
  • The Adjust view is where all journal adjustments are held
  • The Net view gives the result of Input + Adjust

This separation maintains the transparency of adjustment transactions.

To use the journal module, variables need to be fully defined with the appropriate indicator for Financial or Non-Financial and Debit or Credit.

Journal Numbering

Each time you create a journal, Cubix generates a unique Serial Number for that journal. The number, composed of several parts, contains information about the journal, as well as the unique serial number. It resembles this:

A “J” indicates a journal raised within this view.
“L” indicates a journal resulting from a linked period
B “G” indicates a general journal.
“I” indicates an ICB journal
C “N” indicates a normal journal.
“R” indicates a reversing journal
D This number represents the Entity that the journal was raised in. This example, 0023, was raised in the 24th listed entity. Remember that the numbering starts at 0 (zero).
E This number represents the Version that this journal was raised in. This example, 02, was raised in the third listed version. Remember that the numbering starts at 0 (zero).
F This number represents a unique Serial Number of the journal for that Entity / Version combination.
