As well as using ActFor version types for rolling forecasts and using the rules to create assumption and driver based budgets and forecasts, Cubix includes some special planning and forecasting tools which can be used to manipulate and test forecasts creating what-if scenarios and alternative outcomes.

Profiler

The Profiler function allows you to create forecast data based on a source set of data from within the Cubix model, such as prior year actual perhaps, with a function or value applied to produce the new forecast.
The functions that can be applied include:

  • Set To Value
  • Add
  • Copy
  • Grow By
  • Grow To (Linear)
  • Grow To (By Constant %)
  • Trend

These are explained in more detail in the following Profiler section.

Auto Profile

The Auto Profile function is similar to the Profiler function in that it allows forecasts to be populated based on source data, however, it also offers the capability to Spread a value back across preceding time periods. Once the Auto Profile has been set and applied to a line of data the target value can be easily changed by entering a new figure, but the profile method and rules remain constant.

Top Down Budgeting (TDB) Outlines

Top Down Budgeting enables you to take existing values and change a higher level figure such as in a consolidation entity or a calculated cell, and have that change cascade down through the hierarchy from the point at which you made the change, changing child values accordingly.

Top Down Budgeting outlines can be applied directly to the data or saved as a set of named outlines to be applied at a later time.
