3.8. Affiliations

Affiliation occurs on a yearly basis and is completed at the Annual General Meeting. By completing the affiliation form it facilitates a Clubs membership of the association, access to funding, new equipment, assistance with patrols, training and the use of IP. Affiliation is noting in formal documentation through the AGM and affiliation form that the organisation agrees to adhere to all of the policies and procedures of the Branch, State and National.

All Clubs, Branches and State are required to affiliate to SLSA. The Club will declare and recommend their affiliation at the Club AGM, the affiliation is then submitted to the Branch, who affiliate the Clubs at the Branch AGM, the Branch and Club affiliations are then submitted to State who affiliate the Branches and Clubs at the State AGM as well as affiliating with National. Currently, Supporters Clubs are exempt from affiliating with Branch and State however they are required to affiliate with the Club.

Affiliation Statements

An affiliation statement is a statement or declaration that indicates the club relationship or association with Surf Life Saving Queensland. Affiliation statement is used to indicate membership or association with a Surf Life Saving Queensland and serves as a way to provide transparency and clarity about the relationships between clubs/ branches and SLSQ, and to establish credibility and trust in various contexts.

The following statement is to be included in the Club or Branch AGM for endorsement:

Club Affiliation

Please be advised that at constituted Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association held on the above listed date. The following resolution was carried:
“That the Club seeks to formally affiliate with the Branch, Surf Life Saving Queensland Inc. and Surf Life Saving Australia Ltd and further that the Club agrees to abide by the Constitutions, Rules and Regulations, Policies and resolutions together with the awards and equipment of Surf Life Saving Queensland Inc. and Surf Life Saving Australia Ltd”

Branch Affiliation

Please be advised that at constituted Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association held on the above listed date. The following resolution was carried:
“That the Branch seeks to formally affiliate with the Surf Life Saving Queensland Inc. and Surf Life Saving Australia Ltd and further that the Club agrees to abide by the Constitutions, Rules and Regulations, Policies and resolutions together with the awards and equipment of Surf Life Saving Queensland Inc. and Surf Life Saving Australia Ltd”
Further, we declare that we endorse the affiliation of the listed Clubs of this Branch
