Branches and Clubs may grant life membership to SLS members who have rendered distinguished or exceptional service as provided for in that affiliated Surf Club or Branch Constitution and is relevant to that Surf Club or Branch only.
Please refer to the relevant branch or surf club constitution for nomination and election requirements.
General Process:
Application Submitted |
Life Member Panel to meet and review the nomination and verify the accomplishments before providing a recommendation to the Board consideration. |
At the next meeting of the Board, such recommendation to be tabled for endorsement or rejection to the Club Council. |
If supported by the Board, the nomination will be tabled at the next Club Council meeting or General meeting or AGM for final endorsement. |
Notify member of outcome if not present at the meeting. |
Formal acknowledgement of Life Membership will be made with presentation. |
Annual report to be updated with acknowledgement of recognition with photos. |
Update Surfguard membership category and raise recognition award details by raising a new award as per below instructions. |
Note: Clubs and Branches are to check their constitution relating to their requirements for Life Members to complete/ renew a membership application, however, best practice is that Life Members are required to complete their Membership application annually online via SLSA Members Area.
