Operations Support Services provides additional patrolling support to Club’s throughout Queensland. Members of this service belong to Surf Life Saving Clubs and must hold the relevant awards to perform the specific duties required for that service. A club member can make an application to be involved with a service by way of an application form which can be found on SLSQ website and in the Patrol Operations Manual. Acceptance is not automatic, all applications must have Club endorsement and then go before the Operations Support Committee for consideration.

North Queensland Region:

  • Emergency Response Group

North Barrier Region:

  • Emergency Response Group

Wide Bay Capricorn:

  • Emergency Response Group

Sunshine Coast Region:

  • Surfcom based at the Sunshine Coast Branch – working 7 days per week – Volunteers on weekends and paid staff during the week
  • Rescue Water Craft Service (RWC) – based out of Noosa SLSC, Coolum SLSC, Marcoola SLSC, Alexandra Headlands SLSC, Sunshine Coast Branch and Met Caloundra SLSC
  • Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue Service– based at Caloundra Hangar which is operational 7 days per week, both paid staff and pilots and volunteer crews
  • Duty Officer – Volunteers provide this support each patrolling weekend
  • Emergency Response Group

Gold Coast Region:

  • Surfcom based at the Gold Coast Regional Office – this is maned by volunteers on weekends
  • Rescue Water Craft Service (RWC) based out of the following Surf Life Saving Clubs – Point Lookout SLSC, Southport SLSC, Kurrawa SLSC, Burleigh Heads SLSC, Tallebudgera SLSC and Kirra SLSC. Moreton Island RWC patrols are during school holidays and this is paid staff.
  • Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue Service – based at Carrara Hangar which is operational 7 days per week, both paid staff and pilots and volunteer crews
  • Duty Officer – Volunteers provide this support each patrolling weekend
  • Early Morning RWC Patrols – this is provided between Southport and Surfers Paradise beaches by paid staff
  • Emergency Response Group

Brisbane Lifesaving Service (BLS)
Brisbane Lifesaving is based at Surf Rescue House and is aimed at providing an extension of services to Clubs and other services that may require assistance from time to time. The membership to BLS is yearly and is open to anyone and not limited to but maybe be people that have minimal volunteer time and or do not wish to travel to a coast club each patrolling weekend. SLSQ provide a paid staff member to coordinate the training and rostering of members within this service.
