An annual general meeting (AGM) is the yearly gathering of a club/branch interested members. At an annual general meeting (AGM), directors of the club/branch present the clubs/branch financial performance and members vote on the issues at hand.

Special General Meeting

Special General Meetings and Special Resolutions – A Special General Meeting (SGM), is held to deal with specific motions or business that requires a vote by the whole membership.
Special general meetings often deal with business that can’t wait until the AGM. A range of matters may be considered, including those that must be decided by a special resolution.

General Meetings

General meetings are any unscheduled member meetings and aim to pass a specific resolution requiring voting members approval.
At general meetings, decisions can only be made by members who have the right to vote.

Annual General Meeting vs. Special General Meeting / General Meeting

Special General Meeting / General Meetings are meetings that are called by either the Committee or the membership of the organisation to make a decision on a matter and find out further information in an open forum environment. As per Queensland legislation each Club and Branch will need to hold one General Meeting a year, which is formally known as the Annual General Meeting. The Annual General Meeting of a Club or Branch will need to be conducted in accordance with the organisation’s constitution.

Depending on the Club or Branch constitution the members of the organisation may be able to call a Special General Meeting / General Meeting from time to time throughout the season to make a decision on a matter that is believed to be outstanding or resolve an issue of concern.

Board/Committee and Sub Committee Meetings

A board/committee meeting is a regular formal gathering of a board of directors in order to discuss strategic matters of the club/branch.
This includes the club policies and issues, club performance reports and future endeavors.
