34. SLSQ Leave/Restricted?

35. What does SLSQ Leave/Restricted mean?

Leave/Restricted status means you will be unable to participate in any lifesaving activities, including patrols, training, and other club-related activities, until your Blue Card details are updated on Surfguard.

This can usually be rectified by undertaking one of the following steps:

  • Supply your valid Blue/Exemption Card details to SLSQ to be linked.
  • Renew your Blue/Exemption Card and provide your account number and date of birth to SLSQ to be linked.

36. What happens if I have been conducting lifesaving activities whilst on SLSQ Leave/ Restricted?

Activities conducted while on leave/restricted status will not be covered by SLSQ insurance policies. In the event of an injury, incident, or liability claim, the individual could be personally responsible for associated costs and legal repercussions.

Member who have been conducting Lifesaving activities whilst on Leave/Restricted are not covered by our insurances if they injure themselves.

Unauthorised participation could result in reputational harm to the individual, their club, and SLSQ. This may erode trust within the organisation and community, leading to strained relationships and scrutiny of club operations.

Non-compliance with SLSQ restrictions could lead to legal liability if an incident occurs while performing unauthorised lifesaving duties. This may result in personal legal consequences and potential liability for the Member or Club.

If you have been conducting lifesaving activities whilst on Leave/Restricted, then the SLSQ CEO may suspend your membership until you have provided a validated Blue Card.

The Club President and Branch President will be notified of the suspension.
