The role of the Education Department is to support the SLSQ Education Committee to oversee on behalf of the SLSQ Board, the provision of member education and training activities throughout Queensland.

The SLSQ Education Committee is responsible for the provision of effective leadership and support for the overall strategic development of volunteer education and training in the state.

The SLSQ Education Committee develops and implements the training and assessment programs for surf lifesavers across the state. The committee works closely with the branches, clubs, and other stakeholders to ensure that the standards and quality of education are maintained and improved. The committee also provides support and guidance to the trainers, assessors, and facilitators who deliver the courses and qualifications to the members. The education committee aims to foster a culture of learning and excellence among surf lifesavers and to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to perform their roles effectively and safely.
