8.1.3. Safeguarding

To ensure safety of children and young people there two courses that are mandatory for all Surf Lifesaving Queensland (SLSQ) members to complete upon renewing their Working with Children Checks (Blue Cards). This is Child and Youth Risk Management Strategies (SLSQ) and Child Safe Awareness (SLSA). They both can be found in SLS Members Area. Legislation and requirements are under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (the Act), and the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Regulation 2001. It is everyone’s responsibility to guarantee the safety of children and young persons in SLSQ.
