Mandatory requirements provide a structure to develop procedures creating a safe environment to prevent child and youth harm in our organisation. We all have a responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of all members particularly our children and youth. Actions of the strategy in SLSQ are; compliance of working with children checks, procedures to manage breaches and support systems. Every person within SLSQ is bound by the statement of commitment and the code of conduct. The education courses provided ensures participants understand the legislative requirements, understand and identify risks and how to report offences.

There are 8 mandatory requirements to the strategy:

  1. Statement of commitment
  2. Code of conduct
  3. Recruitment, selection, training, and management
  4. Reporting disclosures and suspicions of harm
  5. Managing breaches
  6. Risk management plan for high-risk activities
  7. Managing compliance with the blue card system
  8. Communication and support

Further information on these can be found on the SLSQ Lifesaving Website – Members Area and on the Queensland Government page.
