The CIBMTR has established processes to assess and close any gaps that exist in data reported to the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program (CWBYCTP). The assessment covers unrelated donor transplants facilitated by the CWBYCTP, both within the U.S. and internationally, as well as U.S. related and unrelated donor transplants not facilitated by the CWBYCTP. The CIBMTR works closely with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)/Be the Match, the current Single Point of Access Coordination Center (SPA-CC) contractor, to perform the gap assessment.
CIBMTR utilizes two main mechanisms to assess data reporting gaps:
- Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) program; and
- Annual Consecutive Transplant Audit (CTA)
CIBMTR established these programs to monitor and track the submission of required data. The CPI program ensures timely and accurate submission of data to the CIBMTR to achieve its goal of promoting collaborative research that increases access and improves outcomes of all cellular therapies. In addition, CPI supports the ability to perform benchmarking and to provide accurate population level data. These data are also used to support quality assurance efforts for the programs providing the products, including Cord Blood Banks, Apheresis and Collection Centers.
For US and Non-US Centers – the following basic requirements of the CPI Program are:
- Current IRB (U. S. Centers) and DTA/MHA documents (Non-U.S. Centers)
- Compliant with the Consecutive Transplant Audit process
- Meet target form completion percentages for all categories
Centers meeting the minimum requirements at each evaluation timepoint will be noted to be in “Good Standing.” If a center fails to meet the minimum requirements over several consecutive trimesters, the center will be placed in “Suspension” status, which may impact access to NMDP donors.
