10.3.2 Edit Existing User

Administrators have the ability to edit user information as needed. System Admins can perform edits directly in-line within the user list or navigate to the edit section for more comprehensive editing capabilities. In the edit section, admins can grant or deny users, modelers, or admins the rights to publish, merge, import, or export objects.

In-Line Editing

In-line edits can be executed by selecting an item (User Name, First Name, Last Name, or Email) directly within the user list. Simply click on the desired section (for example, User Name) and type in the desired edit for the user profile.

Editing Window

1. For further editing capabilities, navigate the cursor and select the icon featured on the right hand-side of each user.

*If an organization is utilizing any form of Single-Sign-On login, user editing within the EPC Web App will be disabled due to account pairing with other authentication methods (e.g., Windows Login).

2. Selecting this item will open the full user editing page.

3. Click on the box you want to edit.
   • System Admins can edit the User Name, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number and Password.
4. Check the boxes to specify the level of access desired for the user.
   • System Admins can grant System Admin, Access to the Latest Version DB (to view all objects), or Access to the Published DB (to view only published objects). ‘System User’ access cannot be added.
5. In the last drop-down, select the authorizations to grant the user. See more details on these authorizations below.

6. Select the “Save” button to confirm changes.

Authorizations Overview

When managing user permissions within the EPC system, it’s important to understand the scope of authorizations granted to different roles:

• Publish and Merge: Only Modelers (Access to Latest DB) can be granted or denied these authorizations.
• Import and Export: Only Environment Admins can be granted or denied these authorizations.
• Download and Print: System and Environment Admins cannot be denied these authorizations. See below for more information
• System Administrator: System admins possess unrestricted access and cannot be denied any authorization.
• Access to Published DB: Users with only this permission checked cannot be granted any additional authorizations.

Download & Print Authorizations – Rules & Limitations

1. Users must have download authorization to print.
2. To print a document, users need to download the original files.
3. A log is generated for all downloads, and a report is available.
4. If a user is granted Download but NOT Print:
   • Object books, downloaded files, or mass downloads will be converted into non-printable PDFs.
   • This rule applies only to Office files and PDFs, not to other files like images.
