New Kramer Apk

Overview

The new Kramer apk will eventually replace the Kramer Control apk, but for now it is a secondary Kramer application that runs as an agent on the iOS and Android devices. In order to get the new apk installed, you will need to understand the following features

Side Loading apk
Deep Linking

The setup of the new Kramer apk will also require a laptop with a Chrome browser. The configuration of the Brain IP address used to open the GUI is done using HTTP commands from the browser.

Process

1. Install the new Kramer apk by sideloading the apk with a USB drive or by using ADB
2. Once installed, launch the new Kramer Control application found within the applications list
   • Currently, the app is named Kramer Control with the new branding, this will change before launch
3. Switch to your laptop and open your Chrome browser
4. Enter the IP address of the tablet as shown below, replace the words tabletIP, with the IP address of the KT tablet

If the setup was successful, the browser should show a status of UP

• When using HTTPS you may see a screen that warns you of accessing this page. Click the advanced option and then proceed to get to the page and passed the warning
  

Change boot application on KT tablets

The default boot application will be the existing Kramer Control application. In order for the new app to be used, you will need to change the boot application to none.

1. Go to settings of the device
2. Select the Control option within settings
3. Select the Select Boot Start App option
4. Select none

Change QBIC tablet setting for native Android

If you have a new tablet for testing, the default option is a video player with a URL screen. We need to change to native Android for the new application to work.

• Note: This change should be done on a firmware level of the tablets before release.
  

1. Restart tablet
2. Cancel auto play
3. Select settings
4. Select player settings
5. Enable the option to switch to native Android mode

Setting up Kramer Control for your Brain

To get the new apk to show the Kramer Control GUI of a Brain, go back to the laptop and the Chrome browser that was used to check the health endpoint

• Enter the below text into your URL making sure to replace brainIP with the IP address of the Brain and tabletIP with the IP address of the KT tablet
  • This will work with both SL and Virtual brains

• Note: the above will only work if you have a space with a single interface. If you have multiple interfaces you will need to include the interface ID necessary for deep linking.

*Note: for Launch URL we provided the Kramer Control example, but other sites and addresses can be used as well.
