Events

Events are scheduled actions that occur when certain conditions are met. The conditions are created within the Kramer Control Builder. Examples of conditions are: Time of Day and the Status of another device in the controlled space.

This article explains how to create the three types of triggered events that can be designed within the Builder.

Creating a New Event

1. Create a controlled space and launch into the Builder.
2. Click the Events tab in the left window.
3. Click the three vertical dots in the tool bar.
4. Select the Add an event option.
5. Select and configure one of the types of triggered events explained in the following sections.

State Triggered Event

This type of event is defined by the state of a device within your controlled space. States are covered in more detail in the Devices article found here. Examples of states that can be defined are: Power ON/OFF, Volume level, Mute and Source.

To create a state triggered event:

1. Select the “when a state changes” option from the drop down list in the center pane.
2. Click the Create Trigger option.
3. Select the Devices tab from the right pane.
4. Expand the device that the state relates to.
5. Select the relevant category type.
6. Click and drag the relevant state to the upper section of the center pane and drop it on top of the No Trigger text in the center window pane.
   The state triggered event is created.
7. Add actions to the event (see the last section of this article).
   

Time Interval Triggered Event

This type of event is executed based on a defined amount of time between executions of the event. For example, devices with requirements to keep a network connection alive, often called a keep alive command, can be defined with an interval based time trigger.

To create a time interval triggered event:

1. Select the “every interval of time” option from the drop down list in the center pane.
2. Click the option to create a trigger.
3. Type the required amount of time units for your trigger.
4. Select the required time unit for the trigger: Seconds, Minutes or Hours.
   The time interval triggered event is created.
5. Add actions to the event (see the last section of this article).
   

Absolute Time Triggered Event

This event type is based on the time of day. Examples of such events are: reaching 12pm turns on the system, Sunset turns on the outdoor lights, or Sunrise turns off the outdoor lights.

To create an absolute time triggered event:

1. Select the “at a specific time of day/week/month/year” option from the drop down list in the center pane.
2. Click the option to create a Trigger.
3. Select the required time scenario from the top of pop-up down:
   • time of day – execute the event based on the time of day that you define in the center pane.
   • at sunrise/sunset – using the predetermined location defined during the project creation, the event is executed at sunrise/sunset.
   • at start/end of business day – using the business hours defined during the project creation, the event is executed when the business day starts/ends.
   • The absolute time triggered event is created.
4. Add actions to the event (see the last section of this article).
   

Adding Actions to an Event

To add actions to any of the above types of triggers:

1. Select the Devices tab from the right pane.
2. Locate the device.
3. Select the category.
4. Drag and drop the Capability to the actions section of the center pane.
   The Actions section is located under the trigger and displays a note to drag and drop commands here.
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 if adding multiple Capabilities to the event.
