Each time a Tabular workbook is opened an integrity check is performed to ensure workbook alignment and in case the edit return process fails mid-way, an automated process (that users can choose to suppress, temporarily) is run to re-align the workbook with the database e.g. add in any missing QRTs added to the Tabular database but not to the return (due to some error/crash mid-way through).

Changes NOT saved to database

In case Tabular database indicates that there was an attempt to perform “Edit return” on the current return workbook but that edit return process did not complete successfully you will get a warning message on the open return workbook ‘Edit return: DB writes processing fail case’
It means that none of the changes made (in the Edit Return window) of that Edit Return attempt were saved in the database.
You will therefore need to make those changes again in the Edit Return window and attempt the Edit return process again. To do that you need to click the ‘Edit return’ button in this ‘Edit return: DB writes processing fail case’ warning message window.
Also, you can hit the ‘Cancel’ button and in this case, the return workbook will be left without those changes made in the Edit Return window.

Changes NOT saved to workbook

In case Tabular database indicates that there was an attempt to perform “Edit return” on this return workbook but that edit return process did not complete successfully; the changes WERE saved successfully to the database (so you do not need to go through the Edit Return window again) but the associated workbook changes did not complete successfully (e.g. if you added a QRT in the Edit Return window this QRT has NOT been added to the return workbook) you will get a warning message on the open return workbook ‘Edit return: Workbook processing fail case’
It means none of the changes made (in the Edit Return window) of that Edit Return attempt were saved in the workbook.
To allow Tabular to attempt the workbook changes again (e.g. to add a missing QRT) you need to click “Edit return recovery” in this ‘Edit return: Workbook processing fail case’ warning message window.
Also, you can hit the ‘Cancel’ button and in this case, the return workbook will be left without those changes made in the Edit Return window (added/deleted on Edit return QRTs will not be added or deleted accordingly)
