Excel sometimes shows a message that the workbook is corrupted. It is not directly related to Tabular but more the combination of big workbooks with a lot of sheets, lots of named ranges and mostly – external workbook links. It happens mostly to clients using links to Siimplify workbook. Also, it seems .xlsb workbooks are more likely to get the issue compared to .xlsx ones, but the trade-off is speed.

We incorporated a tool into Tabular to handle such scenarios. Here is how to use it:

1. Open Tabular.xlsm and select Tools -> Stabilise workbook
2. Select the Annual return with the issue and wait for the process to finish.
3. That should fix your workbook. From then on you can try to work with the same .xlsb workbook but risking to have same corruption again or save it as .xlsx workbook (use normal excel save as). I would advise the latter. Note I have changed it also to .xslx for stability and you will get the “workbook not registered message”.
4. To remove this message
5. Open the workbook
6. Log in with administrator user
7. Navigate to “System Admin-> Settings->DB Options” and click on the “Update” button that is highlighted in the screenshot below

If any of the above doesn’t help please contact our support to assist with the issue.
