Each layer has independent Geometry controls

The basic Geometry controls place media onto the layer:

Pos-X

The ‘X’ or right to left position of the media.

The position is a float pin taking a value from 0-1 while the displacement is measured as a percentage of the layer size:

0.0 = Left -250% of the layer
0.5 = Centre The default
1.0 = Right 250% of the layer

Pos-Y

The ‘Y’ or up to down position of the media.

The position is a float pin taking a value from 0-1 while the displacement is measured as a percentage of the layer size:

0.0 = Up -250% of the layer
0.5 = Centre The Default
1.0 = Down 250% of the layer

Continuous

Switches the rotation control from Position to Speed. With Continuous disabled, rotation is similar to indexing a Gobo in a moving light.

  • Disabled The default. Indexes rotation – the layer will rotate to the position and stop.
  • Enabled The layer will rotate continuously.

Position / Speed

The position (or Index) or speed of rotation of a clip. This control is affected by the Continuous switch above.

Position / Speed is actually two float pins that are switched in Zookeeper so only one is visible at a time. For external controllers such as DMX, both pins may be set simultaneously, and only the one chosen by the Continuous pin will be active. The default DMX personalities of Hippotizer control both pins on one channel to mimic the behaviour of Gobo rotate / index common in moving lights.

Position values:

0.0 = -180 Degrees Rotation
0.5 = No Rotation The Default
1.0 = 180 Degrees Rotation

Speed values:

0.0 = Rotate CCW 60 RPM
0.5 = Rotate Stop The Default
1.0 = Rotate CW 60 RPM

Zoom

There are two Zoom controls: Combined Zoom and Zoom X/Y. Either control can be active, but not both at the same time.

ZoomEnable X/Y

Determines which Zoom control is uses.

  • Enabled. Zoom X and Zoom Y are active. Zoom and Aspect are de-activated.
  • Disabled The Default. combined Zoom and Aspect is active. Zoom X/Y is de-activated.

For both Zoom and Zoom X/Y The zoom range travels from 0-400% of the layer resolution.

Zoom is a float control with possible values of 0-1:

0.0 = Zoom at 0%
0.5 = Zoom at 100% The Default
1.0 = Zoom at 400%

Note: The Zoom control in Zookeeper automatically converts to percentage for ease of use. The raw floating point values of the pin are important however for external controls such as DMX.

Aspect

The aspect changes the aspect ratio of the media in a single dimension, X or Y:

0.0 = Aspect X Stretched 300%
0.5 = No Aspect Change The Default
1.0 = Aspect Y Stretched 300%

The Aspect control is active when Zoom X/Y is disabled.
