With the Nevis+ unit, additional EDID management features are released to help manage and maintain this aspect of output configuration within the Hippotizer software. This is only available on Nevis+ units.

HippoLauncher Automation Process

On HippoLauncher start-up the EDID Emulation process is automatic and is configured by the currently connected emulated outputs. Below is a table explaining the configuration during HippoLauncher start-up and what happens:

ZooKeeper Connected ZooKeeper Emulated Output Connected Output Emulated What Happens
No No No No ZooKeeper will be emulated as 1920×1080@60Hz

In short the software will ensure there is always a ZooKeeper present even if a screen cannot be left physically connected. This is to ensure that in the case of a Windows pop-up, it will be posted onto the emulated ZooKeeper screen and not post over the output. It also means that units can be remotely accessed via a VNC solution and will have a virtual canvas within Windows for the ZooKeeper software instead of just having the outputs viewable remotely. In regards to the output connector, it will only automatically emulate if there is a physical connection and no current emulation on it.

Removing Emulation

The automated EDID emulation process will never remove emulation, so it is recommended practice to remove all emulation at the end of the show/installation so the machine is fresh on the next setup. This can be done in a numbers of ways including using the new Screen Management system in HippoLauncher, or with HippoLauncher open using the global shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + E to remove all emulation.

Whilst Engine Is Running

The process will also not run whilst the engine is started to prevent output manager being disrupted in a live setting.

Turning off Automated EDID Emulation

On the Advanced Tab in HippoLauncher you can also set the process to no longer run on HippoLauncher start. In ver4.5.4 and above the autmated EDID emulation is off by default and must be turned on in the Advanced Tab.
