Notch Mixes are created in Output Manager.

A Notch mix is a mix type so must be set as part of Output Manager’s configuration.

Creating a Notch Mix

In setting up a Notch mix there are a few decision to make:

Notch Mix Resolution

The resolution of a Notch block has a significant effect on it’s performance impact.

Often the fastest way to reduce the load of a Notch block is to lower its resolution.

Mix order

Most commonly the Notch mix should be the first or second mix to reduce delay

Mixes in Hippotizer are rendered in order: Mix 1, then Mix 2 etc. Meaning that relays between mixes will add a frame latency if moving from a higher mix to a lower mix.

If the Notch Mix is receiving live capture, then the best is to capture onto Mix 1, use Mix 2 for Notch and higher mixes for content playback.

If the Notch Mix is not receiving live capture then it is best to place the Notch Mix as mix 1, and content playback in higher mixes.

Output Patching

If the Notch effect is going to be played out directly then the Notch mix can be patched directly to an output.

If the Notch effect is to be composited with layer playback then the Notch mix can be created without an output patch and relayed onto another mix.
