Configuration Process For Frame Lock & Genlock

Note: This process has been documented and tested on the recommended driver 20.Q3.1.
  1. Navigate to the AMD Radeon Pro Settings by right clicking on the desktop

  1. On the left hand menu, select Synchronization

  1. The screen will now show all the outputs currently available (via emulation or physical connection) for the outputs of the unit. At the bottom it will also have information for any external genlock signals that the system receives.

  1. Select the Timing Server drop down and select the first output

  1. The screen will now look like this. If you are using an external Genlock signal follow step 6 otherwise skip it.

  1. Click the Configure button next to the Timing Server drop down. Then set the Timing Signal Source to House Sync (Genlocked) and click OK

  1. Now click Apply, after a few minutes the machine will become fully responsive again at the screen will look similar to below

  1. Tick all other outputs you wish to add to the lock group
Note: If the output tick boxes are greyed out, then they do not match the Timing Server and therefore cannot be locked together.

  1. Hit Apply. After a few minutes the machine will become fully responsive again. The system is locked when it looks like below

Alternative Genlock Configuration Method

Alternatively, if the above method is not giving consistent successful results with external Genlock signals, the below method can be tried

  1. Follow the first 2 steps that have previously been outlined so you see a screen that looks like below

  1. Tick all the outputs you wish to lock to the incoming Genlock Signal.
Note: If the output tick boxes are greyed out, then they do not match and therefore cannot be locked together.

  1. Hit Apply. After a few minutes the machine will become fully responsive again. The system is locked when it looks like below

Only displays that have identical resolutions and EDIDs can be synced together. It is strongly advised to emulate the same EDID on displays to be Genlocked. Information on EDID emulation can be found here.
