Enhancing Our Leadership: The Importance of Exit Surveys for Management Committees
As a volunteer-based organisation, strong and effective leadership is critical to success. Management/ Executive Committees play a vital role in shaping the direction of our Club, Branch, and State activities. To continuously improve governance, leadership, and operational effectiveness, you are encourage to introduce Exit Surveys for committee members who are stepping down from their roles.
Why Conduct Exit Surveys?
Exit surveys provide valuable insights into the experiences of outgoing committee members, helping us to:
- Understand what worked well and what could be improved in committee operations.
- Identify challenges faced by committee members during their term.
- Capture feedback on leadership development, governance processes, and organisational culture.
- Support succession planning by ensuring a smoother transition for incoming committee members.
Who Should Complete the Exit Survey?
Any committee member who is stepping down, whether at the end of their term or before, is encouraged to complete the survey. Honest and constructive feedback will help strengthen the effectiveness of our governance and leadership structures.
When should you send Exit Surveys?
Surveys should be sent out after your AGMs
How should they be communicated?
Exit surveys should be set up, survey monkey, JotForm or other online survey tool.
How Will the Feedback Be Used?
The feedback will be reviewed by the relevant governance team and used to:
- Improve processes for future committee members.
- Enhance training and support for leadership roles.
- Address any concerns regarding governance, decision-making, or communication.
