Notification to SLSQ – Capex Policy

Under policy statement F106, Surf Life Saving Queensland requires affiliated branches/clubs to notify them of any capital expenditure exceeding $100,000. This includes various types of projects and investments, such as facility improvements, land or property acquisitions, new facility construction, or business ventures using club funds or borrowings.

The notification to SLSQ should included, but is not limited to:

  • a brief outline of the proposed expenditure clearly stating the intended purpose
  • details of architectural plans (where necessary),
  • cost estimates with recommendation and justification (3 quotes),
  • details of recommendation of the above proposal in General Meeting minutes,
  • latest financial information (Profit and Loss & Balance Sheet) prepared in accordance with accrual accounting requirements,
  • confirmation that appropriate insurance cover is in place,
  • and any other information considered relevant.

To ensure your notification is completed correctly, SLSQ has created a checklist that can be submitted with your notification. TGOV0052 – Club Checklist CAPEX SUBMISSION.docx

The capex documentation will be reviewed by our Facilities Committee, Audit, Finance and Risk Management Committee and SLSQ Board.

Capex requests should be sent through to cosec@lifesaving.com.au or facilitiesteam@lifesaving.com.au
