SLSQ has a legal obligation to the safety of volunteers and staff at lifesaving approved activities.
Incidents must be recorded through the Lifesaving Incident Management System Operation Console (LIMSOC) or reported to the State Operations Communications Centre (SOCC) immediately after the incident. For information on completing minor first aid logs or member injury reports please see the GOV10 Member Injury Reporting Procedure.
SLSQ is notified of incidents by the SOCC to be recorded in the state database. When compensable injuries are reported, SLSQ is required by Workcover Legislation to lodge these with Workcover Queensland (Workcover QLD) for members 14 years of age and older. The Member, Member’s Club and Branch will be notified of this lodgement and asked to contact SLSQ should they wish to proceed with a claim.
Injuries for members under 14 years of age are recorded and correspondence sent to parents. Members under 14 years are covered through SLSQ’s Personal Accident Insurance Policy. Should members under 14 years parent’s wish to lodge a claim, they are asked to contact SLSQ. SLSQ will provide the insurance application form and supporting documents. Once completed we will submit on their behalf with any expenses to claim.
