State, Branches and Clubs collect and store a wide variety of personal information, including names, addresses, contact details, health information, membership data, and sometimes financial records. Ensuring the security of this data is a fundamental responsibility. Privacy policies and procedures are necessary to ensure that:

  • Personal information is only collected for legitimate purposes, such as membership management, training programs, and emergency response.
  • Data is stored securely, preventing unauthorized access, modification, or misuse.
  • Information is only used for the purpose for which it was collected, and with the individual’s consent where required.

We comply with Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), which set clear guidelines on the collection, use, and handling of personal information. These laws are designed to protect individuals’ privacy rights, and failure to comply can result in significant legal and financial consequences, including fines and damage to the organization’s reputation.

SLSQ adopts the SLSA Privacy Policy relating to privacy.
