You can alter any of your Risk/Return assumptions through the use of the Risk/Return tab. The data entered here will apply to all new client files.

The Risk/Return tab displays five risk profiles and their associated Rate and Tax Efficiency values.

Risk Profile

At the bottom of the Risk/Return tab, select a default risk profile to use for pre and post-retirement investments. Separate risk profiles can be selected for both Registered, Non-Registered/TFSA and Corporate investments. Once a risk profile has been selected, the default Rate and Tax Efficiency values will be applied to all new client files. These values can then be modified on a file-by-file basis. Click to accept the changes.

Variable Rate of Returns

A series of variable rates of returns can be uploaded into the programs defaults to be used in client files. The series of returns can be uploaded from an excel file by clicking the button.

The Upload window that appears allows you to enter a name for the series being uploaded, this name will appear in the program so add a name that is easily identifiable. Click the button to select the excel file that is being uploaded. For optimal results the excel file should be formatted to have the years starting in cell A2 and the rates starting in cell B2 as shown in the upload screen. Once the series is named and the excel file is selected click the button to upload the rates of returns.

These custom return series can be edited or deleted. To edit a series of returns, select the name of the series from the drop down window and then click the button. In the Edit window that appears the name of the series and each custom rate of return can be edited.

To change the name of the series enter the new name in the provided field. Each rate of return can be changed by clicking the button, once the rate is updated click the button to store the new value in the series. To cancel editing a value use the button.

Additional custom rates of returns can be added to a series by clicking the button. The additional year will be added to the end of the series and the rate of return for this additional year can be added by clicking the edit button. To save any changes made during the editing of a custom return series click the button.

To permanently remove a custom rate of return series, select the series from the drop down window and then click the button.

The custom rates of returns uploaded in the Your Account screen are saved into the program’s default for use in client files. To use a custom rate of return series in a client file use the Variables Returns area of the program.
