A Tax Area is a collection of Tax Districts for an area in the county.
They ARE NOT just School Districts, they are much more than that.
A Tax Area may have multiple Tax Districts, County, School District, City, Vo-tech and EMT.
To build a Tax Area user must
- CREATE all Tax Districts in that Tax Area
- CREATE all TIF Districts in that Tax Area
- Finally, CREATE the Tax Area
To view/edit the Tax Area Table, go to:
View – Tax Calculation – Tax Area Table
The Tax Area File will open.
This Tax Area File shows each tax area with breakout of the tax districts listed.
Tax Area Info:
- Tax Area ID: This is a System assigned number.
- Tax Area: This is a numeric number assigned to each Tax Area. (Read only unless creating a new record.) When creating a new record if an existing tax area code is entered you will get a message that the record already exists.
- Description: This is the County’s description of the Tax Area.
- Adv Reference: This is the Ad Valorem Reference Number furnished by the OTC. Each unique Tax Area should have its own number. Tax Areas may be duplicated that use the same Ad Valorem Reference Number, however, it is not advised. IF the Tax Area is duplicated, it MUST share the same the same number. Totals should show on the Millage Report.
- School Code: This is the County’s School District code.
- Cross Reference: This is the School District number that the Tax Area is cross referenced to.
- Tax District Table: This is a list of all the taxing districts associated with the tax area.
Area Values Tab:
- The Area Values Tab shows the Gross Values, Exemptions, and the Net Value for each property type for each Tax Area.
