Properties will open the layer properties on chosen layer.

From the Map Legend Menu
CHOOSE Layer
RIGHT-CLICK on layer
The menu will appear.
CHOOSE Properties

The Layer Properties: (chosen layer) box will appear.

General Tab
The General Tab in the “Layer Properties box will show general information on the chosen layer:

  • Layer Visible If checked, the layer will be visible on the map
  • Show Preview If check, the entire layer will show in the box above
  • Layer Name currently viewing
  • Source will show the source type and details of the projection.

Categories Tab

The categories tab gives the user the option to put layers into categories. Example: Parcel Layer—Categorized into VI Areas 1, 2, 3, 4 with an assigned color for each.
Categorizing layers is a fantastic way to visualize different things in map form: A myriad of fields, land use, VI areas, cities, price/sq ft in a neighborhood, find holes in mapping etc…

Fields box shows the fields available to be categorized. CLICK or UNCLICK Unique Values box to make fields appear or disappear.
Classification gives users the option of choosing the number of categories and reveals unique values (field) options.
Color Scheme lets users choose the color scheme.
Categories show the count breakdown, name and polygon style (double-click to open the Category Drawing Options box to change color, fill etc…).
Generate will populate the name and count
Appearance highlight the style box to change and CLICK. The Category Drawing Options box will open to change color, fill etc.
Remove will remove the category with the dotted box around it.
Clear will clear the categories.

Apply will apply the changes made.
OK will close the box.
Cancel will close the box.

Visibility Tab

The Visibility Tab allows the user to adjust the visibility based on zoom scale.

If Use Dynamic Visibility is checked, adjusts when layer appear and disappears.
