In the Kramer Control application, there is an indicator that changes color based on the status of the Brain.
This article explains the different colors and what steps can be taken to troubleshoot any issues you may be experiencing.
Green
Green is the color you are striving for. A green indicator light means:
- The Brain is connected to a server.
- All Gateways are successfully connected to the Brain.
- All controlled devices are connected to Gateways.
Red
A red indicator means that the Brain is not communicating with the server. To confirm that the Brain is not connected to the server, type the following into your browser window: :8000/api/vtest/general
Why is the brain disconnected from the server?
- If the brain is not connected to the network when the unit is trying to communicate with the server, this Red indicator will appear.
- The DNS settings are incorrect within the Network configuration of the hardware webpage. If the hardware cannot communicate with the outside network, the Red indicator will appear.
- The Time is incorrect within the hardware webpage. If you go to and go to Device settings, you will see the date/time information of the unit. If the time/date does match your current time – this will prompt a Red indicator
- Included within the time setting is the NTP Time server. If the brain cannot contact the NTP time server that is configured, a red indicator will appear. If you are using your own time server, make sure that the setting within this page has been changed to the correct address

Blue
A blue indicator means that the Brain is currently synchronizing and the interface cannot be accessed until synchronizing is finished.
If the Brain is stuck in this state try these steps to restore service:
- Power Cycle
- Factory Reset
Yellow
A yellow indicator means that one or more Gateways are not connected to the Brain.
To correct a yellow Gateway try verifying these items:
- Confirm that the controlled devices are on the local network.
- Confirm the IP addresses of the controlled hardware matches what was created within the Builder Hardware section.
We recommend applications such as Fing and LanScan to identify the IP address of devices on the local network.
White
A white indicator means that there are no devices assigned to gateways
Purple
A purple indicator lights means that the Device is booting up
