INTENT
The intent of the Physical Health and Safety Indicator is to facilitate work environments that proactively support the physical health and safety of employees.
METRICS
Level 1
- Organization has a written policy that includes supporting the physical health and safety of employees.
Level 2
- Organization has a written policy that includes supporting the physical health and safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a context-specific safety assessment and takes action to enhance physical safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a job-specific ergonomic assessment as part of employee onboarding and has protocols in place for employees to request ergonomic adjustments on an as-needed basis.
- Organization provides all ergonomically appropriate equipment necessary for the employee to fulfill their role.
- Organization has completed Steps 1 and 2 of the CDC Workplace Health Model.
Level 3
- Organization has a written policy that includes supporting the physical health and safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a context-specific safety assessment and takes action to enhance physical safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a job-specific ergonomic assessment as part of employee onboarding and has protocols in place for employees to request ergonomic adjustments on an as-needed basis.
- Organization provides all ergonomically appropriate equipment necessary for the employee to fulfill their role.
- Organization facilitates opportunities for physical wellness.
- Organization has completed Steps 1–3 of the CDC Workplace Health Model.
Level 4
- Organization has a written policy that includes supporting the physical health and safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a context-specific safety assessment and takes action to enhance physical safety of employees.

ALTERNATIVE COMPLIANCE PATH – WELL Building Certification
Level 2

- Organization conducts a context-specific safety assessment and takes action to enhance physical safety of employees.
- Organization has achieved WELL Building Certification at the Silver Level.
Level 3
- Organization has a written policy that includes supporting the physical health and safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a context-specific safety assessment and takes action to enhance physical safety of employees.
- Organization has achieved WELL Building Certification at the Gold Level.
Level 4
- Organization has a written policy that includes supporting the physical health and safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a context-specific safety assessment and takes action to enhance physical safety of employees.
- Organization has achieved WELL Building Certification at the Platinum Level.
ALTERNATIVE COMPLIANCE PATH – Fitwel Certification
Level 2
- Organization has a written policy that includes supporting the physical health and safety of employees.
- Organization conducts a context-specific safety assessment and takes action to enhance physical safety of employees.

Level 3
