Just is a program to help ensure that our workplaces are built on equitable principles and practices so that all employees and the surrounding community benefit. The goals of the Just program are simple, yet profound, and apply to all organizations, especially those within the building industry:

  1. To elevate the discussion around social justice and equity;
  2. To create a common language and measurement framework for social justice issues pertinent to organizations;
  3. To improve employee and community-related policies, practices, and culture; and
  4. To make life better for all members of the workforce.

As we describe in the Context section of each Category within Just, research and practice show that focusing on social justice and equity issues in the workplace increases employee well-being and engagement as well as the organization’s financial performance. However, that is not the reason why Living Future created Just or why we challenge organizations to utilize this program. We believe that social justice and equity are essential goals in their own right and that social justice metrics are at least as, if not more, important as financial metrics.
