7.1.4. Disaster Types

This module allows users to define and manage disaster types, categorizing events that can disrupt operations and cause significant damage.

*Disaster types created in this module are used in the Disaster Impact tab of the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and appear in the Disaster Type dropdown for the Execute the Plan and New Action Item forms.

Using the Module:

1. Creating Disaster Types

To add a new disaster type, click the Add button. A window will appear, allowing users to enter the disaster type details.

2. Managing Disaster Types

After adding a disaster type, users can perform the following actions:

• Editing Disaster Types: Modifications can be made using either of the following methods:
  
  
  • Modal Editing: Click the Edit ( ) button or double-click a disaster type entry to open the editing window.
    
    
  • Inline Editing: Change a disaster type’s status directly in the grid by selecting or deselecting the checkbox in the Active column.

    *A disaster type’s status determines its inclusion in a BIA, operational plan, or action. Active disaster types are included; inactive ones are not.

• Deleting Disaster Types: Click the Delete ( ) button to remove a disaster type.

  **Confirm deletion by clicking Save Changes or clicking outside the grid. To cancel, click Discard Changes or Undo ( ).

3. Saving & Discarding Changes

• Save Changes: Click the Save Changes button or click outside the grid to apply modifications.
  
  
• Discard Changes: Click the Discard Changes button to revert any unsaved modifications.
