ActiveControl offers support for branched SAP development streams, such as when changes made in one Development track need to be deployed to another parallel Development track to keep them synchronised.

This capability is called Merge within ActiveControl and works to the following high-level process:

1) The original transport(s) are imported to the target development system.
2) A Merge transport (Transport of Copies) is created (not imported) in the target development system.
3) All of the objects in the original transport (or transports, depending on your exact configuration of ActiveControl) are added to the Merge TOC transport.
4) That new Merge TOC transport is then released and moved down the target landscape via ActiveControl

There are many different ways to setup ActiveControl Merge, depending on your own organisation’s specific requirement. The way it is setup within your own organization will be covered as part of ActiveControl training during the implementation project.
