Although it is possible to import transports via STMS (or other tools) even after going live with ActiveControl, Basis Technologies recommend not to do this – in large part because it increases the risk of sequencing issues (since the ShiftLeft analysers are not running when Imports are done outside of ActiveControl), and also because it can result in ActiveControl getting out of sync with SAP.

STMS should typically only be used in the event of the AC Domain Controller system being unavailable for planned/unplanned downtime, and a transport needing to be deployed urgently.

In the event of a transport being imported outside of ActiveControl, it is necessary to perform the Mark as Imported action on the transport(s) within ActiveControl. This is required in ActiveControl to reflect that the Transport got imported outside of ActiveControl, and to move the Transport Form out of the Import Queue and into the next control point location in the workflow.

  • Mark as Imported OK should be used to reflect that the transport was successfully deployed with RC0 or RC4
  • Mark as Imported With Errors should be used to reflect that the transport was deployed with an RC8.

In both cases, the user must indicate the date/time of the import that should be reflected against the Transport within ActiveControl.
