Introduction

Matter status rules enable control of which journals can be created and posted per matter type and status. However, this configuration did not include client account journals.

With this enhancement, users will be able to configure which matter statuses enable the creation and posting of client account journals. This configuration will then allow users to prevent client money operations on unapproved matters, making them compliant with anti-money laundering laws.

Impact

IMPORTANT FOR EXISTING CLIENTS

By default, option “Create client account” is disabled. After updating to 10.0.37, existing evergreen legal customers need to enable this option for the matter types and statuses that allow client account journals.

Parameters

A new option is added to configure whether the status and matter type allow the creation of client account journals.

Path: Matter management and accounting parameters > Matter status > Matter status rules

This new option is dependent on the “Create journals” flag. It will only be active when “Create journals” is enabled.

Functionality

When a user creates a client account journal for a matter which status and type do not allow client account journals, the journal will not be saved, and the user will receive a warning message.

This functionality is also available when a user creates client requisitions.
