Overview
The new feature introduces an enhanced control mechanism that ensures client-level restrictions on client accounting transactions across all matters. This is in response to the need for periodic credit assessments, where transactions need to be restricted during this period without requiring manual changes for each matter.
Key Requirements
- Client-Level Control: A new control at the client level to automatically prevent new client accounting transactions for all matters related to the client.
- Matter-Level Override: A flexible control at the matter level to allow users to override the client-level restriction on a per-matter basis.
- Transaction Impact: This control applies only to new transactions. Transactions that are already created, pending approval, or posted will not be affected by this change.
- Integration with Existing Features: The enhancement integrates with two existing functionalities:
- (evergreen) Client status parametrization
- (evergreen) Client accounting
Client-Level Control
A new action has been added under Client status action setup to implement the control on client-level restrictions for accounting transactions.
Navigation path: Accounts receivable > Setup > Accounts receivable parameter > Matter tab
Note: The highlighted parameter signifies that if the client status is open, then only client accounting transactions are allowed for all the related matters for the client. Users can change the status of the client to restrict client accounting transactions.
Matter-Level Override
A new control at the matter level allows overriding the client-level control, enabling client accounting transactions for a specific matter where the control is activated. This provides additional flexibility to allow client accounting for a specific matter as an exception, if required.
Navigation path: Matter management and accounting > Matters > All matters > Open a matter > Setup fast tab
Note: The ‘Enable client accounting’ control will be effective subject to the ‘Matter status rules’ for the matter. If the matter status rule is enabled for ‘Client account,’ then client accounting transactions will be allowed; otherwise, the existing control will restrict transaction creation.
Navigation path: Matter management and accounting > Matter management and accounting parameter > Setup > Matter status > Matter status rules
