Overview
Two enhancements have been made to the Default Dimension rules function introduced in 10.0.23:
- Legacy functionality that defaults financial dimensions from the matter partner have been deprecated to avoid clashing with the Default Dimension Rules.
- Resolving an issue relating to the creation of matters and assigning financial dimensions (bug: 120374)
Feature management and parameters
The parameter settings for Default Dimension rules have not been changed. However, the earlier parameter to activate dimension default from the matter partner has been removed.
Functionality
Historically, when evergreen creates a matter (or sub-matter), a customisation defaults the financial dimensions from the matter partner. This functionality is not compatible with the default dimension rules feature. Default dimension rules provide a tool that allows users to assign dimensions automatically based on configurable combinations of sources and dimension types. With this tool in place, the notion of having the matter dimensions defaulted from a predefined fixed source is now obsolete and that functionality has therefore been deprecated.
To cater for when a matter’s dimensions are defaulted from the matter partner, the following changes have been implemented:
- It should be possible to select any of the three responsible workers on the project when setting up default rules for matters and sub-matters
- When a project or subproject is created, only the default dimension rules will be applicable.
Configuration
New default dimension rules will be needed for each dimension to continue to be able to default the matter partner’s dimensions when creating a new matter, as follows;
- Posting type = Matter (or sub-matter)
- Primary source = Matter partner
