Allow bulk produced invoice proposals to be (optionally) be grouped by matter

Overview

Previously, when using the “Create Matter Invoice Proposals” functionality, invoice proposals were grouped exclusively by matter contract. This resulted in a single invoice proposal being generated for multiple matters. Users will now be able to generate invoice proposals by matter.

With this release, we introduce a new option that allows users to choose how invoice proposals are grouped:

• By Contract (existing behavior)
• By Matter (new behavior)

This feature provides greater flexibility in managing periodic invoice proposals based on your specific business requirements.

Note: This feature applies only to time and material matters.

This feature is controlled by a new feature, (evergreen) Group periodic invoice proposal by matter, to manage the activation and deactivation of the functionality.

Configuration Options:

In the Create Matter Invoice Proposals dialog box, a new subgroup named “Group proposal by” has been introduced. This subgroup includes the following configurable options:

Go to MMA > Periodic > Matter Invoices > Create Matter Invoice Proposals

1. Group proposal by:
   • Matter Contract: Maintains the existing behavior where invoice proposals are grouped by contract (default value).
     Help Text: Enables grouping of invoice proposals by matter contract.
   • Matter: Groups invoice proposals by individual matter, overriding the contract-based grouping.
     Help Text: Enables grouping of invoice proposals by matter.
2. Include Submatters:

   Groups submatters with their parent matter within a single invoice proposal. This option is only enabled when Matter is selected in “Group proposal by”.

   Help Text: Groups the submatters with the parent matters within one invoice proposal.

Example Scenarios

Contract: 00001

Matters:

• 12345
• 12346
• 12347 (Submatters: 12347.1, 12347.2)
• 12348

Results Based on Selections:

• If “Matter” is selected: 6 invoice proposals will be created (one for each matter/submatter).
• If “Include Submatters” is also selected: 4 invoice proposals will be created, grouping each matter with its submatters.
