The Field Payroll Report Form is broken into the specific activities that are performed on a given day by a particular employee. A numbering system will be assigned to the possible labor categories as determined by the project work estimates. If there is no current activity number for a new item of work being done, contact the project engineer to secure a new added number assignment.
The labor hours are reported against those activity numbers. The result will be a job-cost report that will identify the exact labor cost actually applied to the individual job components.
This kind of detail will provide valuable comparisons to the cost estimates for the respective activities. Actual costs will be tracked against the estimates as they occur, in order to allow identification of potential problems before opportunities for correction have passed.
Finally, the accurate detail of the records will provide an indisputable account of the actual cost of time and material, change order, or any matter in dispute. In each of these cases, absolute attention must be devoted to timeliness and accuracy of the information.
