In a form that is consistent with the other file books prepared for the project, prepare a 3″ or 4″ hard-cover three-ring binder labeled as Clarification/Change Log in order to match the project set, and use tabbed inserts to separate the Log Book into four major divisions identified as follows:

  • Clarifications/RFIs Log (Requests for Information)
  • Change Order Summary
  • Clarifications/RFIs
  • Clarification Sketches

Insert the RFI Summary Log form as described in Section 4.4 of this Operations Manual in the first section of the Clarification/Change Log Book. The Change Order Summary Log form as provided in Section 4.9 of this Operations Manual is to be placed in the second section of the Log Book. The third and fourth sections of the Log Book are reserved as areas in which to file copies of the actual transmittals, clarification sketches, etc., that accompany any specific Request for Information (RFI) or clarification directive, along with their actual responses. All of these records are to be placed in the Log Book in reverse chronological order, as with the Correspondence File Books, and additional binders as needed for sections 3 and 4 of the original Log Book. The two Log Book sections (Clarifications/RFIs and Change Order Summary) should remain in the front portion of the Clarification/Change Log Book #1.
