If it ever becomes necessary, it is useful to know that it is possible to recover a letter after it has been mailed in the U.S. Postal System. In order to accomplish this, request PS Form 1509 from any branch office of the U.S. Post Office. The success of the use of the form, of course, depends upon how soon the recovery effort is implemented after the document to be retrieved was originally mailed.
