Benchmarking is a procedure where the company seeks out and studies the best practices in the industry in order to produce superior performance at home. For example, internal benchmarking of self-performing work can compare the company’s performance on a project where quality levels were highest and costs lowest. Then the company can investigate and memorialize the practices that created this quality, cost-effective job.
