The Irrigation operation is normally used in sugarcane crop applications. In the proximity of sugarcane crop, it is common to find reservoirs of vinasse – one of the liquid by-products of the fractional distillation of fermented sugarcane juice, extremely rich in nutrients. Next to these reservoirs, there are large gauge hose reels, hundreds of meters long. The hoses are completely laid down in the field with tractors help, so that the vinasse application in high flow and with great lateral reach can be activated, while the hose is automatically retract by the reels mechanics, diffusing liquid fertilizer in a large area of the field.
The GeoNave system assists the operator in several stages of the Irrigation operation. First, in the process of hose laying down, informing through visual and audible alerts when the distance parameters related to the hose length have been reached, preventing damage and rupture. Also through the various Guide Patterns available, the system allows the user to perform a uniform application, without lack of application and overlaps, using the Implement width as the hose flow lateral reach.
To configure the Irrigation operation on the GeoNave system, follow the steps described below.
1) Configure Implement Width
The Implement width will be used to fill the Trail performed during irrigation application.
2) Configure the Hose parameters
In the navigation screen, the irrigation settings button will be available. Pressing the button, the left side button bar will assume the configuration shown in the image below.
The Maximum Distance setting button allows to configure the hose total length with values between 1.000 and 2500,000 meters. The Maximum Distance setting screen is shown in the following image.
It is also possible to configure a distance to start visual and audible alert during the process of laying down the hose, through the Configure alert button . Pressing the button, the Alert configuration screen will be displayed as shown in the following image.
3) Reset the Odometer
When the irrigation settings button is pressed, the Information Board shows the Odometer value, which increases with tractor’s displacement. To reset its value and start the hose laying down procedure, the odometer reset button must be pressed
.
4) Create a Guide
Before starting the irrigation operation, the user can perform the procedure described in Create a Guide, to guide the process of diffusing liquid fertilizer in the crop area.
5) Start Irrigation
Pressing the activate irrigation button irrigation operation will start. Both Information Board and Footer are modified in the navigation screen, as shown in the image below. The trail is also shown, demarcating the area that will be applied when the hose is retract by the reels mechanics.
While the tractor lay down the hose, Information Board values and Footer graph are updated.
- Distance to alert decreases from configured value in the Alert menu until it reaches zero, then its displayed value changes to ACHIEVED!.
- The Limit distance value decreases starting from the value configured in the Maximum Distance until it reaches zero, then its displayed value changes to ACHIEVED!.
- The Odometer increases with tractor’s displacement.
- The ruler in the footer graphic moves to the right, while the area to its left is colored according to the distance traveled from the moment the irrigation button
was pressed until the moment the Alert distance is reached.
- Green: Up to half value of Alert distance.
- Yellow: Between half and full value of Alert distance.
- Red (flashing): From the total value of Alert distance, also an intermittent beep will be activated.
When the hose total distance is reached, the ruler is filled whit flashing red and also a constant beep is activated, warning that the hose may break.
