The procedure for updating the GeoNave system firmware must be performed whenever a new update is available on the official website Geoline, or sent via email by our Technical Support team. It is very important to keep the equipment with the latest version, in order to correct any problems and appreciate new features.
The steps described below must be followed to perform the firmware update.
1) Download the file with .BIN extension of the latest version sent via email or directly from the official website Geoline. Check with Geoline technical staff that the file corresponds to the latest version.
2) Format the flash drive using a computer.
Connect the flash drive to be formatted to a computer USB port. Open Windows Explorer, right-click on the flash drive icon and select the option Format.
3) In the format window, the File system option should be the device Default (FAT (Default), or FAT32 (Default)).
4) In the option Allocation unit size select Default allocation size. Click on the Start button to begin the formatting operation and wait until its conclusion.
5) After formatting, copy only the .BIN update file into the flash drive. It must be copied to device’s root folder (no folder should be created in the flash drive).
Once the file is correctly saved on the root folder, remove the flash drive from the computer.
6) System update
With the GeoNave display switched off, insert the flash drive with the update file in the dislplay USB connector (right side), and switch on the display. The system will identify the flash drive file and perform the update automatically.
Wait until conclusion of update process, the GeoNave display will check the firmware version of all existing components of the system, updating those with older versions than the ones in the .BIN update file.
After completing the update of all GeoNave system components, a message will be displayed on the screen to remove the flash drive (Retirar memória portátil).
At this point, disconnect the flash drive from the USB connector, causing the monitor to switch off automatically. Then, Switch on the display again.
7) Checking if the version has been updated
To verify that the version has been correctly installed on the system, access the Information> Equipment menu and check the Application Version information. The displayed version must be the same of the update .BIN file that was installed
