(a) Where equal points are recorded the following calculation shall be applied to decide progression into further rounds of competition and/or to determine final placings:
- (i) The rides of the competitors involved shall be compared. The countback will be determined on the best wave of the two wave total. If the tie is still not broken, then this process is continued to the best of three, four or five waves and so on for each tied competitor.
- (ii) If a tied placing cannot be split with this method of calculation, then both competitors shall proceed to the next round.
- (iii) In the event of equal points in a final and placings cannot be split with this method of calculation, a dead heat shall be declared as provided for under Section 2 of this Manual.
