(a) Competitors are to return to the finish line to record their:
- Placing result once correctly completing the course and crossing the finish line.
- Safe return to the beach if a race is stopped; and/or
- Withdrawal from a race.
(b) Should technology enable the judging of events, the result of such races shall be determined by the order of finish of the competitors’ timing chip (or similar technology) across the finish line.
(c) Alternatively, if technology fails or is not used, the finish of Ocean Swim events may be judged as per traditional methods.
(d) Competitors in the ocean swim shall not be disqualified for failure to finish upright, so long as they cross the line without assistance, and are not deemed to have fallen intentionally so as to have gained a competitive advantage.
