Note 1: The beach set up relative to the positioning of the buoys may be adjusted
dependent on the surf conditions.
Note 2: The turning flags are to be set by the Referee or their delegate considering water conditions at the
time of a race e.g., the turning flags should be set back up to about 5 metres from the water’s edge in the
event of a steep drop off into the water and/or a heavy shore dump for safety, fairness, and practicality.
However, on a flat beach and/or little wave surge, the turning flags may be placed at the water’s edge or
in the water to minimise the run distance. The changeover line may be placed on the beach or in the water
depending on conditions and the placement of the turning flags.
