(a) The substitution of team members prior to competitors being marshalled is permitted (refer Section 2). However, once marshalling has been completed and the draw for individual positions within the team has been undertaken, no further substitution or change of drawn competitor positions shall be permitted, for that round of the event.

Note: A round is a heat, further rounds or final of the total event. Sections are defined as components of the event (i.e., Physical Skills, Theory, Resuscitation, Scenario Task) and not rounds of the event.

(b) In the event of an injury or illness or that results in a team member being unable to continue in a round, the team may continue without that team member, substitution or change of positions, and without disqualification in the event.

(c) An injured/ill team member who recovers may resume their drawn position during that round of the event.

Note: It is the appointed medical officer at a competition (or another person approved by SLSA) who is to verify to the Referee that the competitor has recovered sufficiently to resume participation in the event.

(d) Should further rounds of the event be conducted (e.g., a final), team members may be substituted as detailed in Section 2.
