a) Every heat has a designated amount of competitors.
b) In the case of only 50% or less of the designated competitors have checked-in with the Marshall a walk-through heat can be considered.
c) The Referee will consult with the Head Judge and Marshal to determine if a walk through heat or a shortened heat is warranted based on all circumstances.
d) Under normal competition procedures the Marshal will notify the Referee and Head Judge and at the 5-minute mark of the current heat if there are any missing/unchecked competitors for the next heat.
e) The Marshall or Event Commentator will make several announcements calling for all competitors to check-in and/or confirmation of no-show competitors.
f) Usually, definite confirmation of the no-show competitors is needed. This is to ensure that first round or seeded competitors still have the opportunity to arrive late and compete in their designated heat under the remaining heat time.
g) In the case of a walkthrough heat, the remaining competitors that have checked in for the heat will be progressed into the next round by:
- (I) Seeding order; and/or
- (II) Competition vest colour order.
h) Competition schedules may be affected by walk through heat/s and in this case the schedule is subject to change and no protest or appeal shall be permitted.
