Messages can be exchanged (in bulk) via a platform, as described in the Message exchange platform section, but they can also be exchanged in a peer-to-peer situation.
This chapter describes the available functions for the exchange of a single message between two parties (peer to peer). The receiving party must expose an API that can be used by parties who want to communicate via a direct channel instead of a message exchange platform.
