The graph area shows different kinds of graphs, such as

If more graphs are selected to be shown at the same time, a scroll bar is added to the right. The height of the graph area can be set using the function “Height of button bar graph” in the menu “Functions->Settings->General->Graphs”.

The workload graph

A workload graph is by default shown at the bottom of the Gantt chart. The graph can be enabled/disabled using the menu “View->Workload graph”. Also the workload graph visibility can be overwritten by settings on the individual resource views and material views.

The total workload for the resources per time-unit is shown at the bottom of the screen by a bar per hour, day or week. The resources that contribute to the workload graph are selected in the resource list by clicking the resources. By default all of the resources are selected. The resources may also be selected by using views

The workload relating to each resource is shown by the color assigned to the resource in the resource list.

As an example. If an operation with a workload of 12 hours has a duration of 3 days, then the workload graphs shows 4 hours on day 1, 4 hours on day 2 and 4 hours on day 3. Note that workload is only shown for days where the resource shift calendar is open.

Resource level settings decide if a resource contributes to the workload graph or not.

Filter what resources are contributing to the workload graph

By default all of the resources are activated meaning that all of the resources shown in the current resource view, are contributing to the workload graph at the bottom of the screen.

To de-activate one or more resources push the small colored toggle button on the left side of the resource name. If the color box has solid lines it is activated. If the color box has dashed lines it is de-activated.

It is possible to activate all of the resources at once. To do so right click on any of the colored toggle buttons and choose “Select all”. The “Select only this one” option deactivates all but the clicked resource.

Operation status and the workload graph

It is configurable what operation status is included in the workload graph. This is configured in the menu “Functions->Settings->General->Graphs and windows”.

It is possible to select between these status:

  • Forecast
  • Start possible
  • Paused
  • Cancelled
  • Completed

Operations having the status Planned, Released and Started are always shown in workload graph.

Views of the workload graph

By right clicking on the workload graph, it is possible to select between these views:

Hours
Number of hours planned pr. hour, day or week
Hours left
Number of hours left to be planned taking the available hours (open time in the resource calendars) and hours planned into consideration. Hours left = Available hours – hours planned
Hours / Total hours
Number of hours planned in relation to hours available.
Hours left/ Accumulated hours left*
Number of hours left (see above definition of Hours left) as well as accumulated hours left. The accumulated hours left are counted from the first day in the Gantt chart (furthest left) however only from todays date forward.
% used
Number of planned hours in percent of hours available.
% left
Number of hours left in percent of hours available.
Calendar factor
The calendar factor shows the maximum number of resources required per hour, day, week or month.
Calendar factor/Total
The calendar factor/total shows the maximum number of resources required compared with the number of available resources per hour, day, week or month. The number of available resources is set for each resource using the Calendar factor in the Edit resource window.
Full period graphs
If you enable “Full period graphs” you will get a simpler view of the graphs when you zoom out and in. It is easier to get an overview of how the workload is divided when zooming out to week-or month level as it sums the workload accordingly.
Edit total hours
The number of available hours for a resource can be edited directly on the workload graph.
Example: A resource works 8 hours per day. For a period the resource works 10 hours per day.
  1. Go to the single resource view: push the button showing the resource to the left in the Gantt plan.
  2. Right click in the graph area and select Edit total hours. Underneath the graph the total hours are shown pr. day.
  3. Edit the field for each day to show 10 hours
  4. Shift to the mode “Hours/Total hours”. It now shows that there are 10 hours available each day. When the total hours are exceed, the number is shown in red.
